  • I type words and something happens.
  • The error message is the computer telling me where to look.
  • I made a thing that works. It did not exist before.

You can love coding in Las Vegas.

What it really is

Coding is writing instructions carefully enough that a machine can follow them.

Three things to try today

  1. Write out how to tie a shoe, step by step.
  2. Have someone follow it with no help.
  3. Fix the step that failed.

For the grown-up reading this

The Las Vegas–Henderson–North Las Vegas, NV metro area has about 2,407,226 residents, ranking 29th in the country. The question is not whether Las Vegas, NV has children who love coding. It is whether anyone told them that counts as something.
