In my own words · Camden, NJ
Why I love building

- It has to hold itself up first.
- Every part is pushing or pulling.
- Somebody drew this before anybody dug.
You can love building in Camden.
What it really is
A building is a structure where every part is either being pushed or pulled.
Three things to try today
- Build the tallest tower you can from paper.
- Find where it wants to fall.
- Add one thing to stop that.
For the grown-up reading this
Nobody has to talk a child into liking building. They have to not talk them out of it. Camden is one of the cities the Philadelphia–Camden–Wilmington, PA-NJ-DE-MD metro area is officially named after.
Compression and tension. Naming which one each part is doing changes how a child sees structures.
